As also reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), that was very seldom the case in 2010. For reasons of uncertainty regarding the further economic development, many parties to collective agreements in that year rather agreed on one-off payments which would not have an impact on any percentage increases in the future.

Press release No. 159 / 2011-04-26  The German labour market is in good shape and will attract foreign labour from 1 May this year when the free movement of workers will be fully implemented in relation to another eight Member States of the European Union (EU).
