When was the new Classification of Economic Activities, Edition 2008 (WZ 2008), introduced in national accounts?

On the 16th of August, the first results of the major 2011 revision for the years and quarters from 1991 onwards were published. However, as usual, this first release contained GDP data only. Detailed results of the major 2011 revision of national accounts were released on the 1st of September. As part of this revision the new Classification of Economic Activities, Edition 2008 (WZ 2008), was introduced in national accounts.
The WZ 2008 is based in a legally binding manner on the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community (NACE Rev. 2) which was published with Regulation (EC) No 1893/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 December 2006 and which, in turn, is based on the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC Rev. 4) of the United Nations.
