Measuring administrative costs with the Standard Cost Model
Web database of all information obligations
The results of measuring the administrative costs imposed on businesses and citizens are available free of charge to all interested parties from the web database. Users can have the nearly 15 000 information obligations by various criteria and have the most costly legal obligations displayed as well as the number of enterprises affected in all of Germany. In addition, the database shows how the costs caused by information obligations develop when the legal basis is modified. It is updated regularly and supplemented with current results.
Current results
In December 2010, the Federal Government released its annual report, taking stock of the progress made under the government programme in the last four years. Accordingly, the target of reducing administrative burdens has almost been achieved: 22.6% of the costs as at the reference date have already been cut, including all the activities planned. The report informs about the measurement of administrative costs for businesses, citizens and authorities that is performed by the Federal Statistical Office and about the steps taken or planned by the Federal Government. Besides the information obligations, other efforts that have to be made to comply with federal legal provisions will in future be taken into account.
You will find more information on the German publications site of the international SCM network. The report can be downloaded there as well.
