
The main activity of nurses according to the law on nursing care of 21 July 2003 is the responsible involvement in curing, identifying and preventing diseases. The goal of nursing care is to restore, improve, maintain and support the patients’ physical and mental health, with preventive, rehabilitative and palliative measures to be included. The most frequent activities of nurses include taking care of patients 24 hours a day, for example washing and bedding persons in need of care, changing bandages or administering drugs upon instruction of physicians. They assist physicians in diagnostic and therapeutic activities, provide first aid and accompany dying persons.
