Building trade

"Houses are always being built!" Nevertheless or, maybe, even therefore the building trade's situation strongly depends on business cycle variations and structural developments of the entire economy. The impact of these general conditions is clearly reflected by the economic and employment situation of building enterprises. The surveys of the building trade supply statistical information on the building trade's current economic situation and structural development. They are subdivided by two fields: main construction trade and finishing construction trade.

Short-term information on the main construction trade is collected in a monthly report, which provides current data for short-term economic analysis, used as a basis for the calculation of indices of production and incoming orders. Besides, a statistical survey, conducted on a quarterly basis, collects data on orders on hand in the main construction trade. A quarterly survey collects short-term economic data on the finishing construction trade.

Structural surveys on an annual basis provide information about developments and structural changes in the building trade over the medium term. The annual investment survey delivers important information about the investment activity of enterprises in the main and finishing construction trades. The annual cost structure survey provides detailed information on cost and output. The two surveys are supplemented by the structural survey of minor building enterprises.
