
In 2011, a total of 8.2 million tonnes of meat were produced commercially in Germany. Meat production increased by 119,000 tonnes (+1.5%) on a year earlier, thus reaching a new record value. As also reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the growth in production was due to increases in pork and poultry production, while a decline was recorded in beef production.
