"As reported by the Federal Statistical Office…", is the phrase many people in Germany know from the media. The current Annual Report of the Federal Statistical Office focuses on projects extending beyond 2010 and on the people behind the federal authority’s data and analyses. The Report shows how businesses and scientific institutions use the data of the Federal Statistical Office and which statistics are particularly important for political decision-makers. As competent interviewees, Dr. Kristina Schröder, Federal Minister for Family Affairs, and Prof. Jutta Allmendinger, President of the Social Science Research Center Berlin, answer our questions. And as we just cannot publish it without including a few figures, the Annual Report contains the key data and facts on the services offered by, and on the staff and budget structure of the Federal Statistical Office.
