According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the number of persons in employment living in Germany amounted to 39.8 million in January 2010. Compared with January 2009, that was a decrease of 154,000 persons or 0.4%. Considering the generally weak economy, the year-on-year decrease in the number of persons in employment can thus be still described as moderate.
