The continuous deterioration of the framework conditions for the construction industry that started in the middle of the 1990s had a considerable impact on the economic situation of the enterprises and on the employment situation in construction. The period between 2000 and 2008 was characterised not only by a smaller number of construction enterprises and decreasing employment, but also by declining turnovers and reduced investment activity.
