The monthly tourism survey provides the policy and business communities and also the general public with current information on short-term trends in the accommodation industry. In addition, it gives information on structural aspects of internal tourism. Its results form the basis for decision-making in the area of tourism policy, for infrastructure planning and for advertising activities in tourism and also market research measures. The survey collects the relevant data from accommodation establishments. The latter include i.a. hotels, inns and guest houses, holiday homes and dwellings, youth hostels and mountain refuges, tourist camp-sites, and also prevention or rehabilitation centres and training homes. The survey covers all accommodation establishments with nine or more bed places or, for tourist camp-sites, with two or more camping pitches.
