Environmental-economic accounting

In 2008 private households consumed 2.3% less petrol than 2007. Compared to 2000 the reduction was 5.6%. Despite that reduction the households had to spend more money on petrol than the year before due to massive price increases of petrol. Prices of premium gasoline rose by 4.4% from 2007 to 2008, diesel fuel even more by 14%. As a result the expenditures of households for petrol increased by 3.0% to 46.8 bn Euro.
