In 2010 environment-related tax revenues amounted to some 54.5 billion euro, of which the energy tax (previously mineral oil tax) contributed 39.8 billion euro, the motor vehicle tax 8.5 billion euro and the electricity tax 6.2 billion euro. Between 2000 and 2010 environment-related tax receipts increased by 13.1%. In 2010 environment-related taxes had a share of 10.3% in total tax revenues.
