Expenditure, revenue and financial balance of public budgets
In 2010, expenditure of public budgets amounted to Euro 1,127.8 billion, which was just slightly more than in 2009 (+0.1%). A markedly larger increase was observed, however, for public revenue. Due to its increase by 3.0% to Euro 1,049.6 billion, the cash deficit of the overall public budget (as defined in public finance statistics, including the balance of internal offsetting items) decreased by Euro 28.8 billion from the previous year, now reaching Euro 78.1 billion.
