About 27.4 million pigs are kept in Germany

On reference day 3 November 2011, about 27.4 million pigs were kept in Germany according to provisional results. At the same time, there were also some 12.5 million cattle and 1.65 million sheep, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
