In 2010, German local courts reported 31,998 company insolvencies. This means that in 2010 the number of company insolvencies was by 2.1% lower than in the previous year. In crisis year 2009, company insolvencies had returned to an upward trend for the first time since 2003 (+11.6%). In 2003, the number of company insolvencies had reached an all-time high (39,320 cases).
