Labour productivity per person in employment increasing nearly 23% since 1991
WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office, labour productivity per person in employment in Germany’s national economy and per person-in-employment hour increased by a total of 22.5% and of 32.4%, respectively, between 1991 and 2006. The more favourable trend in productivity per person-in-employment hour reflects a 7.5% reduction in the average number of hours worked by persons in employment. Labour productivity in the economy as a whole is defined as the quotient of price-adjusted gross domestic product over the number of persons in employment (self-employed and employees) or of person-in-employment hours.
