WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden, there are considerable differences in the life expectancy of the population of the different Länder in Germany. In the period 2004/2006, the life expectancy of newborn boys differed by 3.5 years and that of newborn girls by 2.3 years between the Land with the highest and the Land with the lowest life expectancy of newborn children. The nationwide highest life expectancy was calculated for Baden-Württemberg.
