Gross value added of ICT: Services clearly prevail

WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) before the CeBIT trade fair, the gross value added created through the production of goods and services of information and communication technology (ICT) in Germany in 2007 amounted to some EUR 92 billion. While the share of ICT in the value added of the overall economy had still been nearly 4.3% in 2000, it amounted to somewhat more than 4.2% in 2007. This is due to a decline in the value added of ICT goods, which could not be completely offset by the increased share of ICT services. The data are based on computations of national accounting.
