Industry maintaining its GDP share over the past 15 years
WIESBADEN – The German industry (manufacturing) has succeeded in largely maintaining its share in the gross domestic product of Germanyas a whole over the past 15 years. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the occasion of the Hanovertrade fair taking place from 21 to 25 April 2008, the gross value added of that sector amounted to about EUR 508 billion at current prices in 2007, which was a share of 23.4% in the total of all economic sectors in Germany(1993: 23.6%). In 2007, about 7.5 million persons in employment worked in manufacturing, and the compensation of employees was some EUR 331 billion.
