Transfer payments for 29% of the initiated cases of educational assistance
WIESBADEN – In 2007, youth welfare offices in Germany granted 435,000 new cases of educational assistance for families, children, juveniles and young adults. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), 29% of those families or young adults also received financial government support. In the statistics of educational assistance, support is considered as financial government support if unemployment benefit II, needs-oriented basic security in old age and in cases of reduced earning capacity or public assistance (German Social Code, volume XII) is received (also in part).
