By the end of 2008, the crisis had affected much of the world economy
WIESBADEN – In the fourth quarter of last year, the economic situation deteriorated markedly in many parts of the world. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the occasion of the coming summit of the group of the 20 leading developed and emerging economies (G20), the price-adjusted gross domestic product of many G20 countries in the fourth quarter of 2008 was smaller than in the fourth quarter of 2007. In all countries for which figures for the last quarter of 2008 were available, the year-on-year rates of change were markedly below those of the previous quarters.
