1st half of 2009: Savings ratio unchanged from a year earlier (11.2%)
WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office on the occasion of the World Savings Day on 30 October, the savings ratio of all households amounted to a seasonally adjusted 11.2% of their disposable income in the first six months of this year. A monthly average of EUR 180 was put aside per inhabitant, which was the same amount as in the previous year. The total saved by all households in the first half of 2008 amounted to EUR 89 billion.
