Every tenth person relying on minimum social security
WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), 8.1 million people in Germany received transfer payments of minimum social security systems at the end of 2007. This means that almost every tenth person (9.8%) living in Germany had to rely on financial support from the government to secure his or her livelihood.
