Index of prices in wholesale trade in 2009: –7.0% on 2008
WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the index of selling prices in wholesale trade was down 7.0% on an annual average in 2009 from the preceding year. This was the highest year-on-year-rate since 1986 (–7.4% compared to 1985).
In December 2009, the index of wholesale prices was 0.2% above the level of the preceding month.
Compared with December 2008, the index increased by 0.2% in December 2009. In November and in October 2009, the annual rates of change were –3.2% and –7.0%, respectively.
