Markedly lower collectively agreed pay increases in the 2nd half of 2009 than in the year before
WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the new pay increases negotiated in Germany in the second half of 2009 were in many instances notably lower than in earlier years: in view of the economic crisis, most agreed pay increases ranged between 1.0% and 2.0%, while in the second half of 2008 increases of 4% or more had been negotiated in the metal industry and several other small branches.
