Prices of air freight transports recovering in the fourth quarter of 2009
WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the prices of air freight transports departing from German airports recovering in the fourth quarter of 2009. Price rises of an average 10.9% were recorded on the third quarter of 2009. Compared with the lowest level recorded in the second quarter of 2009, the index increased by not less than 16.6% and thus reached its highest level in 2009. However, the prices of freight transports were down by an average 17.3% in the fourth quarter of 2009 on the same quarter a year earlier. On an annual average, the price index for air freight transports declined 30.6% in 2009 compared with 2008.
