Children with a migration background less frequently in day care
WIESBADEN – Almost every second child aged under six years with a migration background attended a day care centre or was cared for by a child minder on 1 March 2009. This has been reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). Hence, parents of children with a migration background used day care services less frequently than parents of children without a migration background. The attendance rate – that is, the proportion of children in day care as a percentage of all children in the relevant population – amounted to just under 47% for children with a migration background and to about 61% for children without a migration background.
