WIESBADEN – At the end of 2008, a total of 4.6 million people or roughly one in nine employees worked in the health sector in Germany. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), this was an increase of some 76,000 people or 1.7% on a year earlier. Since 2000, the number of employees in the health sector has increased by 500,000 or 12.2%.
