4.5% of the students at private institutions of higher education
WIESBADEN – Although the share of students at private institutions of higher education in all students is at a relatively low level in Germany today, it has markedly increased in the last few years. According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), 96,100 of the total of 2,119,500 students in Germany were enrolled at an officially recognised private institution of higher education in winter semester 2009/10. That is a share of 4.5% of all students. In winter semester 2000/01 the share was 1.4%.
