WIESBADEN – According to provisional data, a total of 11.7 million pupils attended schools of general education or vocational schools in Germany in the school year 2009/10. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), 8.9 million of them attended schools of general education, while the number of pupils attending vocational schools amounted to 2.8 million. Compared to the previous school year, the number of pupils thus declined 1.3% at both general and vocational schools.
