WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the index of import prices increased by 8.5% in May 2010 from the corresponding month of the preceding year.This was the highest price increase since November 2000 (+10.6%). From April 2010 to May 2010 the index rose by 0.6%. The index of import prices, excluding crude oil and mineral oil products, was 5.5% above the level of a year earlier (+1.2% compared to April 2010). The index of export prices increased by 3.6% in May 2010 from the corresponding month of the preceding year. This was the highest year-on-year-price increase since October 2000 (+3.9%). From April 2010 to May 2010 the index rose by 0.5%.
