Educational level of the population continues to increase
WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the share of the population aged 25 to 64 years with at least one qualification obtained in secondary level II (higher education entrance qualification, apprenticeship qualification, vocational school qualification, academic degree) has continually increased since 2004 in nearly all Länder. In 2008, as in the previous years, it was markedly above the OECD average of 72% in all Länder (Germany: 85%). With shares of 92% and more, the new Länder achieved international top levels again.
