New Orders

Manufacturing in November 2017: New orders -0.4% seasonally adjusted on the previous month

Based on provisional data, price-adjusted new orders in manufacturing had decreased in November 2017 a seasonally and working-day adjusted 0.4% on the previous month. For October 2017, revision of the preliminary outcome resulted in an increase of 0.7% compared with September 2017 (primary +0.5%).

Production index

Production in November 2017: +3.4% seasonally adjusted on the previous month

In November 2017, production in industry was up by 3.4% from the previous month on a price, seasonally and working day adjusted basis according to provisional data. In October 2017, the corrected figure shows a decrease of 1.2% (primary –1.4%) from September 2017.

Turnover

Manufacturing in November 2017: Turnover +4.6% seasonally adjusted on the previous month

The price-adjusted turnover in manufacturing in November 2017 was up a seasonally and working-day adjusted 4.6% on the previous month. In October 2017, it decreased by 2.1% on September 2017. Thus confirming the provisional result published in the previous month.

Employees

Number of employees in manufacturing in November 2017: +2.1% year on year

At the end of November 2017, 5.5 million people worked in local units of manufacturing with 50 or more persons employed in Germany. On the basis of provisional results, that was a rise by about 116,000 persons or 2.1% against November 2016.

Investments

Investments in industry up 3.9% in 2016 year on year

German industrial enterprises with 20 or more persons employed invested 62.1 billion euros in tangible fixed assets in 2016. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of roughly 2.4 billion euros or 3.9% compared with 2015.
