Based on provisional data, price-adjusted new orders in manufacturing had increased in June 2017 a seasonally and working-day adjusted 1.0% on the previous month. For May 2017, revision of the preliminary outcome resulted in an increase of 1.1% compared with April 2017 (primary +1.0%).

In June 2017, production in industry was down by 1.1% from the previous month on a price, seasonally and working day adjusted basis according to provisional data. In May 2017, the corrected figure shows an increase of 1.2% from April 2017, thus confirming the provisional result published in the previous month.

At the end of June 2017, 5.5 million people worked in local units of manufacturing with 50 or more persons employed in Germany. On the basis of provisional results, that was a rise by about 88,000 persons or 1.6% against June 2016.

German industrial enterprises with 20 or more persons employed invested 59.8 billion euros in tangible fixed assets in 2015. This was an increase of approximately 2.1 billion euros compared with 2014 (+3.5%). This means that investments have almost reached their all-time high of 2008 again (60.0 billion euros).
