55 million departing air passengers in the first six months of 2017

In the first half of 2017, the number of passengers departing from German airports rose by 6.4% to 55.2 million. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of air passengers departing to foreign countries increased by 7.6% to 43.2 million between January and June 2017.

2016: record numbers of passengers in short and long-distance bus and rail transport

In 2016, passengers in Germany used regular short and long-distance bus and rail transport services nearly 11.4 billion times. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was a 1.5% increase on a year earlier.
