USA most important customer of German carmakers

In 2017, the United States were Germany's third largest trading partner and largest importing country, according to foreign trade statistics. Goods worth a total of 172.6 billion euros were traded between the two countries. Exports to the United States amounted to 111.5 billion euros. The main German export good here was motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (28.6 billion euros).

In 2017, Germany exported motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers to the value of 234.8 billion euros worldwide. The United States ranked first on the list of major importing countries for this product group (12%). They were followed by the United Kingdom (11%) and the People's Republic of China (9%).
