12.7 billion euros for non-university research in 2016

In 2016, the non-university research institutions in Germany spent approximately 12.7 billion euros on research and development. This was an increase of 1.9% on 2015. In the same period, the number of people working in these research and development institutions (full-time equivalents) rose by 1.5% to 103,200.
