Most frequent vocational training occupation in 2016: Management assistant for retail

A total of 516,639 young people concluded new apprenticeship contracts in 2015. This was a decline of 0.3% compared with a year earlier. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that management assistant for retail services ranked first again, accounting for 30,474 new apprenticeship contracts.

Number of new apprenticeship contracts down 1.1% in 2016

According to provisional data, roughly 510,900 young people in Germany concluded a new apprenticeship contract within the dual system (enterprise/vocational school) in 2016. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was a decrease of 5,700 contracts, or 1.1%, on 2015.
