Press release 448 / 2017-12-12: January to September 2017: business insolvencies down 8.0% compared with the first 9 months of 2016

From January to September 2017, German local courts reported 15,169 business insolvencies. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decline of 8.0% compared with the same period a year earlier. The number of consumer insolvencies amounted to 53,977 from January to September 2017, with the number of cases being down 7.9% from the first nine months of 2016.

Press release 449 / 2017-12-12: The amount of incinerated sewage sludge increased again in 2016

In 2016, 1.1 million tonnes of sewage sludge (dry matter) - that is, nearly two thirds (65%) of the total amount of sewage sludge of public waste water treatment plants - were incinerated in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the proportion of incinerated sewage sludge increased markedly over the period of 10 years. In 2006, 47% of sewage sludge were subject to thermal disposal.

Press release 450 / 2017-12-12: Agreed earnings in 2017 expected to be up 2.3% on the previous year

Based on first calculations of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the collectively agreed monthly earnings, as measured by the index of agreed monthly earnings including extra payments, are expected to increase by 2.3%, on an annual average, in 2017 year on year. The calculation included the agreed basic remuneration and agreed extra payments such as one-off payments, annual extra payments or agreed back payments.
