Press release 422 / 2016-11-23: Detailed gross domestic product results for the 3rd quarter of 2017

Gross domestic product, price-adjusted in %

The German economic performance continues to increase substantially. As the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) already reported in its first release of 14 November 2017, the gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.8% - upon price, seasonal and calendar adjustment - in the third quarter of 2017 compared with the previous quarter. In the first half of 2017, the GDP had also increased markedly, by 0.6% in the second quarter and 0.9% in the first quarter.

Press release 423 / 2017-11-23: September 2017: traffic accident fatalities down 14.4% year on year

According to provisional results, 279 people died in road traffic accidents in Germany in September 2017. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was a decrease of 47 people, or 14.4%, compared with September 2016. The number of persons injured also declined in September 2017, by 14.8% to roughly 34,100 compared with the same month a year earlier.
