WIESBADEN – Fewer staff of the Federation, Länder and social security funds led to an overall decrease in public service personnel until the middle of 2015. It was slowed only by a sharp increase in staff at municipal child day care centres. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) to coincide with the United Nations Public Service Day on 23 June, roughly 4.65 million people were employed in the public service on 30 June 2015. That was a decrease of 7,000 or 0.2% on a year earlier.
