WIESBADEN – In 2015, 870,000 people received training assistance under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that, compared with 2014, this was a decline in the number of BAföG recipients of roughly 54,000 or 5.9%. In 2014, the year-on-year decline had been 3.5%. Recipients included approximately 259,000 pupils and 611,000 students in 2015. The number of pupils who received training assistance fell 6.9%, while that of students was down 5.4% on a year earlier.
