WIESBADEN – 1,450 people died in traffic accidents on German roads in the first six months of 2016. According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), this was a decrease of 144 people, or 9.0%, on the first half of 2015. However, the number of persons injured was up by 0.9% to roughly 183,400.
Overall, the police recorded more accidents in the first six months of this year than in the first half of 2015. The number of accidents rose by 3.6% to roughly 1.25 million.
