Press Unused labour supply in 2015: 5.7 million people want to work (more)

WIESBADEN – In 2015, roughly 5.7 million people aged 15 to 74 years wanted to have a job or to work more hours, according to results of the labour force survey. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that their number fell by 298,000 (-5.0%) compared with the previous year. 

In addition to just under 2 million unemployed, the unused labour supply in 2015 comprised 1 million people in the hidden labour force and a total 2,7 million underemployed persons.
