WIESBADEN – Based on provisional results of quarterly cash statistics, revenue of the core and extra budgets of the overall public budget rose 3.9% to 652.1 billion euros in the first half of 2016. Expenditure increased by 3.0% to 647.7 billion euros. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was a cash surplus – as defined in public finance statistics – of 4.4 billion euros in the first half of 2016. In the first half of 2015, the overall public budget showed a cash deficit of 1.6 billion euros.
