WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the quantity of cigarettes on which tax was paid in Germany decreased by 11.3% in the third quarter of 2016 compared with the same quarter a year earlier. The total value of tobacco products in terms of retail prices on which tax was paid in Germany in the third quarter of 2016 amounted to 6.3 billion euros. That was a decrease of 0.8 billion euros or 10.9% from the corresponding period of the preceding year.
