Press Slight increase in the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases in 2015

Press release No. 449 of 13 December 2016

WIESBADEN – In 2015, German businesses used 9,347 tonnes of fluorocarbons (F-gases), which are classified as climate-relevant greenhouse gases. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the used quantity was roughly 72 tonnes, or 0.8%, higher than the level of the previous year. Greenhouse gases contribute to climate change and have an impact on global warming.

These substances do not affect the climate until they are released into the atmosphere. This is why they are also referred to as substances with a global warming potential.
