WIESBADEN – A total of 925,200 people died in Germany in 2015 – 449,512 men and 475,688 women. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of deaths increased by 6.5% compared with a year earlier. Nearly half of all female deaths and a fourth of all male deaths were to those aged 85 years and over.
As in the previous years, the most common cause of death in 2015 was cardiovascular disease. It accounted for 39% of all deaths.
