WIESBADEN – As in the previous years, more blueberries were cultivated in Germany in 2016. Compared with 2015, the outdoor area on which blueberries were cultivated increased by slightly more than 9% to 2,710 hectares. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was roughly one third of the total outdoor area under cultivation with bush berries in Germany.
In 2016, bush berries were grown on 8,490 hectares of land (+4% compared with 2015), the outdoor area accounting for 97%.
