WIESBADEN – At the end of December 2016, 5.4 million people worked in local units of manufacturing with 50 or more persons employed in Germany. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional results, that was a rise by about 42,000 persons or 0.8% against December 2015.
The number of hours worked in December 2016 increased 1.5% from a year earlier, reaching 624 million.
The earnings amounted to 22.4 billion euros; that was 3.5% more than in December 2015.
